Aussie dollar
As the Australian dollar has gone above the American dollar the tourism industry of Australia has taken a beating. But this means there is deals on accommodation and flights to Australia plus a host of local deals in top tourist areas such as Cairns and the Whitsundays. The dollar might be high but this doesn't mean a bargain can be had.

6 things I hate about Sydney
I lived in Sydney from 1999 to 2001 and I have to say it wasn't a good experience. Sure there's the harbour, the bride, the opera house etc but there's also a not so nice side to Australia's biggest city. Here's my top 6 things I hate about Sydney:
10. Too big: too many people and too big
9. Trains are always running late
8. Winter and Autumn is cold and dreary
7. Crime is bad in a lot of places in Sydney
6. Gap between rich and poor. There is no other city in Australia where the gap between rich and the poor is more evident than Sydney
5. Commute time: If you're lucky enough to live 5 mins from work than thank your lucky stars because a lot of people in Sydney have to spend 2 hours a day getting to work....like I used to.
Lucky that Sydney has some of the most magnificent beaches in the world and a harbour that the world is envious of hey!

The wet season in Cairns
The rain just keeps coming in Cairns and Far North Queensland. MAny towns from Cardwell to Cooktown have had nearly 400mm of rain, the wettest October in many years. This is usually what December and January is like in Cairns so if this is anything to go by we're in for a very wet year. Hopefully all the road users stay safe. Read all about Cairns weather and why it's so unique compared to the rest of Australia.

I love Cairns
Living in Cairns is living the dream! Beautiful days, crystal waters, the reef, the rainforest, great food...what more could you ask for. Recently I wrote a speech for a competition that didn't go ahead. The competition was themed I Love Cairns and speakers had to speak to this topic so I wrote it but didn't get to present it. So I've posted it here. Let me know what you think. I Love Cairns
The best of Cairns Dining
Cairns in Far North Queensland offers some of the most exquisite food you can eat. Given that the city is right on the great barrier reef the seafood is fresh and sweet. If you're coming over for a holiday why not try something a little exotic like crocodile. To save you some time I've listed the best places to eat in Cairns
